the lab at ge.

Problem.

My team had to create a one-stop-shop for all thing about the lab at GE's Detroit site (no longer active). Users need to be able to learn about the lab, view the current machines, schedule a visit, and volunteer for employee enhancement projects.

Process.

We held a design thinking workshop with the team, end-users (internal and external), and product experts (from various GE plants) who where asked to elaborate on factory experiences. We ran through some activities, whittling down the "typical user" since our tool was available internally to all GE staff (a broad range of folks who may or may not even use the portal).  After a week of workshopping, we used the data gathered to inform the page map and hierarchy to which I further designed and refined on my own.

Unfortunately the lab was shut down, the team was dissolved, and the project was scrapped.

Roles.

UX Designer, Visual Designer

Team.

Brian Perlstien, Kristen Brews
